The Giant Pacific Octopus is the largest octopus species to roam the oceans!
The Giant Pacific Octopus (or GPO as they’re often known) lives alone both in the wild and here at Hastings Aquarium. They live in cold waters and are extremely versatile, squeezing into tiny spaces and changing their skin colour and even skin texture to help protect them from potential predators.
At certain times of the day you’ll have to take a good look into this display to spot its resident, they’re very good at hiding in plain sight. Our experts interact with the octopus daily to keep her stimulated – look out for puzzles and toys our team have sourced (and sometimes made) to challenge her!
