The Blue Reef Aquarium in Hastings is inviting the public to create their own marine-themed works of art.
Inspired by ‘The Big Draw’, an annual event organised by the charity Drawing Power, the Rock-a-Nore Road attraction wants to encourage more people to get involved with art.
Running throughout October, the aquarium is inviting visitors to create their own weird and wonderful artworks inspired by the amazing variety, patterns, colours and shapes of the aquatic world.
A special ‘art-zone’ has been created beside the aquarium’s giant underwater window in to their tropical reef display where visitors can gain inspiration.
All completed works of art will also go on show in the same area and there will be prizes for those deemed to be the best which will be announced at the end of the month.
Organiser Leanna Lawson said: “The Big Draw is proving to be a really popular event that seems to have struck a chord with visitors.
“As part of the event we will be encouraging all of our visitors to become an artist for the day! Sketch a seahorse, paint a puffer fish or create your own fishy work of art inspired by the amazing variety, patterns, colours, shapes and sizes of our marine creatures.
“We’re hoping they will be inspired by some of the wonderful and amazing sea creatures ranging from starfish to sharks.
“The drawings don’t have to be done here at the aquarium, we recently had a group come in who had completed their artworks at home and wanted them to go on display here,” she added.
