Keepers at Hastings Blue Reef Aquarium have been providing some special festive treats for their residents in the run up to Christmas.
Among those benefitting from all the yuletide goodwill were the Rock-a-Nore Road attraction’s collection of bearded dragons who were treated to their own vegetarian Christmas dinner.
Other residents, including the aquarium’s resident bullfrog, Barry, seemed somewhat underwhelmed with all the festive cheer but staff are confident that he enjoyed all the extra attention.
Alongside the reptiles and amphibians, Blue Reef’s sharks and rays will also be receiving their own special treat in the shape of squid and sand eels.
Blue Reef Aquarium’s Leanna Lawson said: “Although a traditional turkey dinner isn’t really suitable for many of our aquatic inhabitants the keepers wanted to serve them all up something a bit special for Christmas.
“Squid and sand eel is a particular favourite of our rays and sharks and the bearded dragons love sprouts, cabbage, green beans and peas.
“We’ve also put together a festive menu for our other residents and one of our team will be coming in on Christmas Day itself to ensure they all get to enjoy it,” she added.
