HASTINGS’ AQUARIUM SPREADS CHRISTMAS CHEER WITH RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS
Blue Reef Aquarium in Hastings is appealing for nominations after pledging to brighten up people’s day by offering small random acts of kindness in the lead up to Christmas.
Staff at the Rock-A-Nore Road attraction thought of the idea after receiving several heart-warming stories following on from the appeal for suggestions to name their new Giant Pacific Octopus.
Leanna Lawson, Marketing Executive, said: “We currently have a competition running where we are asking people to send in ideas to name our new octopus.
“It is only day one and we have received several passionate reasons as to why they want us to give him a particular name, and how much they love the aquarium.
“It made us realise how much the aquarium and our animals mean to our visitors and so we want to give something back.”
The team kick-started the campaign this week by unexpectedly gifting one little boy an octopus keyring after his mother informed the staff how much he loved the eight armed creature.
Another lady was surprised with two free tickets to visit the aquarium after she expressed her fondness for Hastings in a moving email.
The aquarium team are appealing to local people who may have friends or family, or even a stranger, that they know love the aquarium, and would like to nominate them to receive a small act of kindness.
They can email [email protected] with their story, the team will then choose a select few to pass on tokens of cheer to.
Issued on behalf of the Blue Reef Aquarium. For more information and to arrange interviews and picture opportunities please contact Leanna Lawson on 01424 718776.
